Turns out that when you pack SW19 with tanned, athletic bodies in short skirts, not everyone goes straight home after the last set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wimbledon Park sits just yards from the All England Lawn Tennis Club, and its car park has quietly established itself as one of South London’s better-known outdoor sex spots. Active after dark throughout the year \u2014 and apparently even more so during the tournament itself \u2014 it attracts couples, singles, and watchers from across the area. One Dogging Action member put it plainly: “We have doggers in Wimbledon Park waiting for dogging men and women to go car dogging after dark.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The park officially closes during Wimbledon fortnight, but that has done little to deter the regulars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Locals Are Not Impressed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Not everyone in SW19 shares the enthusiasm. A handwritten letter recently appeared pinned to a tree in Wimbledon Park, addressed to the dogging community with the kind of stiff-upper-lip fury only a South London homeowner can truly deliver:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“To whom this applies. If you can manage to stop using this car park as a location and meeting spot for sexual activity during Wimbledon fortnight then please also refrain for the rest of the year. As a local resident I am sick and tired of treading in used condoms and tissues every time I walk my dog first thing in the morning. I have also witnessed couples and singles meeting here during daylight hours and disappearing into the bushes. Wimbledon Park is a family park and any kind of public sexual behaviour in this area is simply not acceptable. If it continues I will alert the police and ask them to step up patrols.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Wimbledon doggers, it appears, have been unmoved by this appeal.<\/p>\n\n\n

Away from the park, Wimbledon Common offers considerably more cover.
